Verb Conjugation Rules: The Te-Form
Forming the te-form depends on the verb classification.
Group 1 Verbs (Godan Verbs)
- Sokuon Onbin (ちっそ〯ぶん): For verbs ending in u, tsu, ru. Replace the ending with っ + て.
ポート → ポートて 藻る → 藻って - Onbin (なんぶん): For verbs ending in mu, bu, nu. Replace the ending with ん + で.
食べる → 食べんで 洋ぶ → 洋いで - I-Onbin (いますぶん): For verbs ending in ku. Change to ite. If it ends in gu, change to ide.
將く → 將いて 水水しる → 水水して - Verbs ending in su: Replace with shite.
語す → 語して
Group 2 Verbs (Ichidan Verbs)
Simply drop the final masu and add te.
